Obituary For Susan Armetta

Susan Armetta passed away on April 21, 2024 in Susanville, California.

She was born on July 31, 1945 in Watsonville California to George and Amelia Zobel.

Susan (or Susie as her dad called her) was the youngest of four children and had a wonderful childhood filled with time playing with neighborhood friends and her many cousins at her grandparents ranch. She graduated from Watsonville High School in 1963 and went on to train as a dental assistant at Cabrillo College in Aptos, Ca. She married Fred Taylor in 1967 and when their first son arrived in 1970 she became a full-time mom. Her family moved to Susanville in 1981 and she enrolled in Lassen Community College where she earned her LVN and later, her RN. She and Fred divorced in 1982.

Susan worked at the convalescent home in Susanville until she went back to school to get her RN. After graduating in 1989 she went to work at Washo Medical Center in Reno and worked there until she began work at High Desert State Prison in 1995 where she would finish her career.

Susan married Henry Armetta in 1989 and gained three step-sons and a step-daughter. Henry and Susan built their dream home, a log cabin on Gold Run Road in 1991 where they enjoyed their horses, dogs and cats.

Susan loved to shop and her one of her favorite things to buy was jewelry. She loved bling! She loved to wear beautiful things. She also loved to give gifts and her friends, family and co-workers were often the recipients of her generous gift-giving. Susan also loved Elvis and talked about him frequently in her final years.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband Henry, parents, George and Ameila, brothers Ronald Blevins and George Zobel, brother-in-law Paul Barber, and step-son Paul Armetta.

Susan is survived by her sister Cece Barber. She also leaves behind her children, Scott Taylor, Kathy (Vern) Watson, and Sam Taylor, as well as Henry’s children, Stacey Armetta, Hank Armetta, and Ross Armetta. Susan is also survived by her grandchildren, Greyson(Peyton) Gallagher, Riley and Eleanor Taylor, Krystal (Jim) Ebode and her children – Adam, Alina and Alek and Ben (Abby) and Danny Watson, and Milo and Claire(Patrick) McCloskey.
