Steven William Dustin
June 13, 1951 - May 16, 2024
In the early morning hours, with his family by his side, Steve passed away from this beautiful earth.
Steve was born in Herlong California to Raymond and Kathrine (Sturm) Dustin. He was the baby of five siblings and as such got away with a lot! The family moved into the Honey Lake Valley where Steve attended Janesville Elementary from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The family again moved into Susanville where Steve graduated Lassen High School in 1970. The friendships he collected in those years have been some of his happiest memories. The hunting, fishing,camping and ocean trips with friends and family were treasured times. After High School and having some amazing, crazy and unforgettable memories, Steve met the love of his life, Carole Edwards. She tamed that wild heart and they had 48 wonderful years together, son Mathew and daughter Diana made their family complete.
Steve was an amazing Journeyman Meatcutter blessing dinner tables with some of the best cuts of meat in his 30 year career. If he wasn’t cutting meat he was hunting or fishing for it! To say Steve was an avid outdoorsman wouldn’t do him justice. He was on the Lassen County Fish and Game Commission and was a member of the Sportsman Club and Mule Deer Foundation. He was lucky to have a best friend/son by his side enjoying the hunts with him and getting some amazing trophy animals. Another beautiful memory was the honor of walking his beautiful daughter down the aisle. He knew how lucky he was to have both of his children and his 9 grandchildren living close by and being able to be in their lives watching them grow up.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Charlie and grandson Kadin. Steve leaves behind his wife of 45 years Carole, son and daughter in law Mathew and Erica Dustin, grandsons Corbin Spafford, Chase and Kolten Dustin. Daughter and son in law Diana and Ray Goetchius granddaughter Brianna and grandsons Nathan, Ryan, Dustin and Eastin. Sister and brother in law Sharon and Ken Stapleton and brother and sister in law Ken and Patty Dustin, many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.
Steve really lived and loved his life for 72 years and his memories and stories will live forever. A celebration of life will be held Saturday July 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Susanville Monticola Club on South Lassen Street, so get your stories ready! Lunch will be provided.
