Obituary For Sherrell Rae McBroome

Sherrell R. McBroome, age 63, of Susanville, California passed away on July 5th, 2024.

A celebration of life will be held on August 3rd at 10 a.m. at Susanville Assembly of God church located at 473-465 Richmond Rd N, Susanville, California.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 30 years, Daren; daughter Shannon, son-in-law Martin, and granddaughters Violet and Charlotte. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Sandy, and her sister, Kerri.

Sherry was born in Martinez, California to Ray and Sara Bell. Sherry was a lady of many talents and served her nation and her community in many capacities. Her talents were broad and diverse, having worked as a wildland firefighter, long-haul truck driver, exceptional cook, seamstress, and various positions in the medical field. She served her nation in the Marine Corps. However, Sherry's passion was creating jewelry and was best known in her community for owning and operating the Sierra Jewelry Company in uptown Susanville. Sherry had a big heart and through God’s blessings was able to support many causes and individuals in her community throughout the years.

Sherry loved Jesus and her family. Daren was Sherry’s rock, and she put up with Daren’s shenanigans for 30 years where they supported each other in all things. Her daughter was her world and she adored her two granddaughters. She made a tremendous impact in their lives and she will be greatly missed. Sherry was a long time member of Susanville Assembly of God church, and enjoyed fellowship with her “Jesus loving misfits”.

The family of Sherry McBroome wishes to thank the staff of Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville for making her last days as comfortable as possible. Most importantly, we thank all of Sherry’s friends for their loving support and countless prayers. Even in Sherry’s last days, she was thinking of everyone except for herself, a true testament to her character of supporting, giving, and uplifting others. Remaining positive to the last, she never wavered in her faith and love for Jesus Christ. Sherry was grateful for all the blessings in her life, and now that she is free of pain, in our Father’s loving arms, we have no doubt that she will be praying for all of us until we meet again.

Bible verses that resonated recently for Sherry included Isaiah 43:1-13 and Psalms 107:19-21.

A reflection from Sherry: May, 2024:

“I find it fascinating to look at people and wonder what their true story is. I’ve never walked in their shoes or had their experiences, pain, loss, or joy. We are all broken in one way or another. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to give up judgment for love?”

In loving memory of Sherrell Rae McBroome.
