Obituary For Ronald David Milton

Ronald David Milton passed away on April 12, 2024, after a brief illness at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville. He was 84 years of age.

Ron was born in 1939 in Milliken, Colorado. His family relocated to Lassen County in 1952 and purchased the Buffum Ranch at Leavitt Lake, where the family raised cattle and farmed crops (Lake Leavitt Ranch). Their brand can be seen on the wall in the historic Pioneer Building in uptown Susanville.

Ron was active in the FFA at Lassen High School and graduated with the class of 1958.

Ron married the love of his life, Lynn Dunn, in 1960. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary just prior to Lynns’ passing in 2019.

After the family ranch sold, Ron worked at Sierra West Sales for the Bengard Family and Texaco gas station for his brother, Rick. Ron and Lynn moved to King City, CA where he worked at an Allis Chalmers tractor dealership for the Markham Family. They returned to Susanville and Ron began his career at the California Correctional Center in 1973.

When Ron and Lynn retired in 1995, they relocated to Lake City, CA where they had a self-sustainable farm and enjoyed getting back to their roots by raising black angus cattle and other livestock. Ron was especially proud of his bull he named Justin. Ron enjoyed remodeling the old farmhouse, woodworking, welding, and spending time with friends and family at their home at Eagle Lake, which they moved to when the farm became too much work for them. They enjoyed their time spent at Eagle Lake and then moved back to Susanville to live out their retirement.

Ron was blessed to be surrounded by a loving family, wonderful friends and neighbors who would lend a helping hand, whether it be shoveling snow, mending fences, bringing him food or treats, or helping out with things around the house. Even during his stay at the hospital, he reminded everyone that he was ready to go see Jesus his Savior, and that George Straight is the king of country.

Ron is survived by his siblings; Fred Milton, Karla (Alfred) Pombo, and Paula Erle, daughters Debbie (Lance) Stevenson, Karen (Brian) Marsters, and grandchildren; Jennifer Harrison, John (Sindy) Harrison, Hunter Fletcher, Haley Fletcher, and Colton Marsters, great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Services will be held on Saturday May 4th at 1:00pm at Fink Funeral Home in Susanville, CA. Graveside services will immediately follow at Diamond Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lassen High Alumni Association or charity of your choice in memory of Ron Milton.
