Obituary For Robbyn Virginia (Mountjoy) Peters
Robbyn Virginia (Mountjoy) Peters
Robbyn Virginia Mountjoy was born on December 24, 1935, to Robert and Virginia Mountjoy in
Denver, Colorado. What joyous Christmas Present.
Robbyn had two younger sisters: Lois and Carolynn.
Robbyn grew up in Denver and attended East High School. Then she attended the University of
Colorado in Boulder, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
After graduation, Robbyn moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she, as a substitute
teacher, taught at Redwood City and East Palo Alto schools. She then went to San Jose Unified
School District as a full-time teacher.
In 1959, Robbyn married Lenden Edward Walter. They had 3 sons: Bob, John and Ken.
Robbyn and Lenden divorced in 1969.
Robbyn met Ron Peters in 1969, who had three children: Craig, Jeff and Laura, from a previous
marriage.
Robbyn and Ron married in 1973 and made their home in Saratoga, California. They
celebrated their 50 th anniversary on July 22, 2023. Ron likes to point out that Robbyn was 2 ½
years older and he always said, “He married the Couger of his dreams”.
Then in 1977, the family moved to Lower Lake, California where she taught elementary school
in the Clear Lake Highlands.
In 1981, they again moved to Janesville, California, where they have made their home for the
past 43 years.
Robbyn taught at Shaffer Elementary School in Lichfield, California. Robbyn retired in 1993
after 33 ½ years of teaching in California.
After retirement, Robbyn and Ron enjoyed themselves traveling in their motorhome and on their
motorcycle. Their travels include all of the USA and Western Canada.
Robbyn’s hobbies were sewing, gardening, and reading.
In 1996-1997, Robbyn was President of the Emblem Club, which is affiliated with the Elks log.
At the same time Ron was the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge. Whenever there was mutual
business of the organizations, instead of sending correspondence they would sit down to a
“happy hour” at home and have their meeting.
After a Long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Robbyn passed away peacefully on March 22,
2023, at the age of 88.
