In Loving Memory of Margarita Palomino

Margarita Palomino, 83, passed away on July 6, 2025, just days before her 84th birthday. Born in Jalisco, Mexico, on July 18,1941, Margarita lived a life defined by strength, love, and resilience. At the age of 36, she became a widow and was left to raise her eight children on her own — a responsibility she carried with unwavering dedication and grace.

In 1980, seeking a better future for her family, she immigrated to the United States. By 1987, she settled in Susanville, California, where she fulfilled one of her dreams by opening her own restaurant, Margarita’s. The restaurant quickly became a beloved local favorite, known not just for its food but for the warmth and pride Margarita poured into every dish.

After many successful years, she chose to retire in the late 2000s and embrace more time with her growing family. Margarita found great joy in cooking, sowing, and caring for her loved ones whenever they were around. Her love for music was as vibrant as her personality — some of her favorite artists included Daniel Santos, Celia Cruz, the Gipsy Kings, and The Doors.

Margarita leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and cherished memories shared with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her life reminds us all of the strength we hold within us and the beauty of a life lived in service to others.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
