Harold Dean Artz, 78, of Susanville, California passed away on December 16, 2023. He was born on November 26, 1945, in Santa Barbara, California to the late Harold and Doris Artz.
Harold, known to his loved ones as Dean, was a loving husband, son, father, and grandfather. He was described as kind and generous by those who knew him.
Dean attended Taft Union High School, graduating in 1964, and later pursued higher education at Taft College and Chico State College. He had a successful career as a self-employed businessman, owning and operating three Arco Service Stations in Chico. After moving to Ventura in 1975, he owned Uniforms, Etc., and in 1996 he worked at Stroope Realty in Bakersfield. In 2004, Dean settled in Susanville, where he purchased County Cleaners.
Dean is survived by his wife, Penny, brothers, Mike and Greg and children, Gwyn, Amanda, Daniel, Malinda, Amanda, Barbara, Madeleine, and Susan, as well as eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held on June 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Diamond Mountain Golf Course in the old clubhouse, located at 470-835 Wingfield Rd., Susanville, CA. Friends and family are invited to share fishing stories, boating experiences and golf stories as they honor and remember Dean.
