Obituary For Doug William Medici
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas William Medici A proud veteran of the United States Navy passed on May 3, 2025, at age 79, at Reno, Nevada, after a short illness.
Doug, born the youngest of three, was born on Sept 2,1945, in Herlong, CA, to his parents Roger and Mary Medici. Doug was the definition of a true gentleman, never forgetting special dates and offering salutations for all celebrations. He was a man of integrity and devotion, whether it be his wife Dina, jobs or family. He loved going to nieces and nephews and even the great’s ball games, if you told Doug that there was a game he would always try to be there. Doug loved his animals, over the years he raised dogs, horses and parrots. In his younger years, he built several hotrods and enjoyed driving around the county. He also loved motorcycles and would go for rides with his father and brother whenever he got the chance. When asking Doug, how are you doing? He would respond by saying” If I was any better, I’d think it was a set up!”
Doug attended school at Westwood before enlisting at age 17 in the United States Navy. After serving four years, he returned to Westwood. He worked in his family’s logging company in Westwood on and off for years, running any piece of equipment that they owned. Doug worked on the green-chain at Cheney Studs in Greenville.
He went back to college to become a police officer for the Pittsburg Police Department and retired in 1900 and went on to work at the Sierra Army Depot, holding several different positions, retiring as a supervisor of the Storage division.
Doug had received numerous awards and achievements:

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Dina Medici of 37 years of marriage, his nephew Jack Medici and his niece’s Lisa Medici (Joe), Debby Duke, Cheryl Owen, Marlette McAlister and sister-in-law Melanie Headrick. He had numerous great-nieces and nephews as well as great greats. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Roger and Mary Medici of Westwood brother Roger A. Medici of Westwood and sister Beverly Fiscus of Susanville, as well as his nephew William Fiscus Jr.
Doug will be buried, graveside services, committal service with military honors at the Diamond Crest Cemetery, _____Diamond Crest Road, Veterans Section, on ____________ at ___________pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for Doug and his family during this difficult time.
