Obituary For Deborah Susan Broin Emery

Deborah Susan Broin/ Emery, 72, of Susanville, CA, Passed away on Dec 25, 2025 at her home at Lassen Eskaton Manor Apartments where she had many friends.

Deborah was born on April 16, 1953, in Stockton, CA, as the first child of

Susan Grayce Nelson, and Ronald Emery. Deborah was very fond of being called a surfer girl, and spent much of her childhood on the beach in southern California. She spent much of her time traveling to different countries, and enjoying what the world had to offer to a vibrant young girl.

Deborah was a music lover, and enjoyed her animals. She especially loved her dogs, and cats. She said that someday she would have a small farm with ducks, and a donkey. She also had a habit of always shopping for clothes, but mainly shoes. Deborah had too many friends to count, and was one of the kindest, gentlest person to everyone. To know Deborah was to love her. She had so much humor, and was always joking about something, or someone. Her deepest love was for her daughter Susan Clarke, son in-law Todd Clarke, grandchildren Logan, Liam, Leia, and niece Vanessa Broin. She also have a very special person she called her daughter also, and that was Jeni Bruffett Hyatt Treea. They both had a deep understanding of what friendship really is about.

Deborah was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Grayce Nelson, and brother Michael Broin. She is survived by her daughter Susan Clarke, grandchildren Logan, Liam, Leia, and niece Vanessa Broin, several family members, and beloved friends.

Services will be held at Fink Funeral Home at 115 S. Lassen Street.

Susanville, CA 96130 on January 12th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Services and eulogy will be officiated by Fred Mankins.

Graveside will happen after the services, at Diamond Crest cemetery at 705 Diamond Crest Rd, Susanville, CA.

Paulbears will be determined at the cemetery. Honorary Paulbear will be Fred
