Obituary for Daniel Mark Gaumont
Daniel Mark Gaumont, aged 73, passed peacefully from this earth surrounded by his family on May 28th, 2024 in Susanville, CA. Danny was born on November 25th, 1950 in San Jose, CA to Robert Ernest and Davina Mary Gaumont. As a child, he was enrolled at St. John Vianney Catholic School, attended Saint Francis High School, and graduated from James Lick High School in 1969. Exploring his natural talent for the arts, Danny studied at San Jose City College and later completed jewelry courses at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, CA. Danny enjoyed designing one of a kind pieces of jewelry including his, and his wife Linda's wedding rings. Danny and Linda first met as teenagers and married at the age of 20 years old. Together Danny and Linda raised 4 children, and welcomed many of their family members and the friends of their children in their home.
In 2001, Danny and Linda moved to Susanville, CA where he continued to work as a third generation union journeyman carpenter until he retired. Prior to moving, Danny and his family had spent many vacations in Lassen county. They enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time at his parents' ranch in Janesville, CA. He loved spending time outdoors working on his property and could often be found in the garden dozing with a cat on his lap. Danny enjoyed collecting books, western art and dinnerware. He was always creative and enjoyed working with his hands making projects out of salvaged wood including picture frames. He was a great teacher and mentor and was always willing to share his knowledge with others.
Danny enjoyed spending time with his family and is survived by his wife Linda (Moynihan); children Kathleen (Mark) Denning, Jeana (Tim) Nobles, Krystal (Anthony) Dodge, Robert (Lily) Gaumont, and Daniel (Stacey decd.) Gaumont; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his siblings Ronald (Debbie) Gaumont, Suzanne Gaumont (fiance Johnny Reed), Anita Gaumont and an extended family.
